Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mkomazi National Park, Lake Chala & Materuni Waterfalls Itinerary:
The area lying between Mount Kilimanjaro and The Eastern Arc Mountains is rich in wildlife and the cultural heritage of local tribes that together have formed unique and beautiful scenery that is a must not miss visit for travelers visiting Africa for a grassroots experience. Set below the verdant slope of the spectacular Usambara and Pare Eastern Arc Mountain ranges and overseen by the iconic snowcapped peak of Kilimanjaro, Mkomazi is a virgin breathtaking beauty exhibiting unique natural treasures and an immense sense of space. Further, still the Park is vital refuge for 2 highly endangered species, the charismatic black rhinos and sociable world dogs.
Materuni is one of the few villages of wonder in Northern Tanzania situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. While in the village, the scenic view of Mount Kilimanjaro is astonishing. This authentic village welcomes visitors to explore the beauty of the land and the cultural heritage of Chagga people. Materuni Waterfall is one of the tallest in the area, spewing crystal-clear waters 70m into its basin. The beautiful path leading to Materuni Waterfall is located 2500m above sea level. It crosses valleys and hills covered with tropical rainforests, and coffee, banana, and avocado trees.
Lake Chala is a caldera lake fed by clean, cold underground streams from Kilimanjaro itself, and it is renowned for its gloriously changing colors: from deepest turquoise to emerald green to azure and all colors in between. It is a perfect place to relax, swim in its sparkling waters, or go hiking in the picturesque countryside around the lake.

Ending Point: Mkomazi NP
Duration: 3 Hours
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in the morning, you will meet your Driver Guide and drive to Mkomazi National Park arriving in time for game in the park with picnic lunch viewing the Rhino to their protected area and wild dogs into their cages while enjoying birdlife, large mammals and antelopes enroute. Later on proceeds to your Motel/ cottage arriving in time for leisure, dinner and overnight.

Ending Point: Lake Chala/ Marangu
Duration: 2/1 Hours
After early breakfast, drive to Materuni Village arriving in time for nature walk around Marangu area and tour the cultural tourism operating communities to experience their living culture. Take a plunge and swim in the water body formed by the waterfalls and hot lunch which will be accompanied by coffee demo (processing) and later on proceeds to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar or to your next destination.

Ending Point: Day trip to Mandara Hut
Duration: 4-5 Hours
After breakfast, drive to Materuni Village arriving in time for nature walk around Marangu area and tour the cultural tourism operating communities to experience their living culture. Take a plunge and swim in the water body formed by the waterfalls and hot lunch which will be accompanied by coffee demo (processing) and later on proceeds to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar or to your next destination.
